The Prosper project was found in 2001. The project is designated for observers, who do not want to observe well-known variables, but they are eager to discover new things. The stars, selected to the project's programm, are new variables, which have not got their proper light-curve elements yet, the stars, whose variablity is suspected only, and also very neglected variables. Determining the light-curve elements and modelization are very immodest and time-consuming work for one person, and by participating on this project you can take advantage of cooperation of several people. The number of observers which owns a CCD camera or PEP is small and their time is costly. We would like to prove, that also visual observations are valuable in this work.
The style of observations should be (at least from the beginning) similar to the style of observations of semiregular and irregular variables. A few observations or just a single observation per night should suffice. If there are enough observations during the season and we are lucky, we should be able to determine preliminary ephemeris. After that, observers with CCDs or PEPs will acquire some measurements at least around the minimum. This is a result which can be published e.g. in Information Bulletin on Variable Stars. All visual observers will be, of course, co-authors of such a paper. A working scheme like this is very successful in other groups of observers.
The project is maintained by the team of experienced observers (in alphabetical order): Petr Hajek, Karel Koss, Jitka Kudrnacova, David Motl, Ondrej Pejcha, Eva Neureiterova and Miloslav Zejda. Each variable in the programm has got its patron, who takes care of it from processing observational data till final publication.
